The philosophy behind the name

Hi, I'm Silvia, and I created The Mind-Body Compass out of a deep belief in the power of the mind-body connection.

The name reflects the idea that when we rebuild the relationship between mind and body, we awaken an inner compass — a felt sense of direction that can guide how we live, heal, and make choices that truly align with who we are. Our bodies communicate in the form of subtle signals, physical sensations, gut feelings, and emotional truths that, when listened to, offer clarity and orientation to navigate life.

The Mind-Body Compass is here to help you reconnect with that inner guidance system, regulate your nervous system, and build the capacity to live from a place of embodied clarity, safety, confidence and self-trust.

About the Mind-Body Compass

I'm a trauma-informed somatic practitioner, specialising in body-oriented coaching, breathwork, and bodywork. I am trained in Innercamp’s Holosomatic Method ® for Bread and Body therapy, and certified by the Somatic School in the UK. My approach is grounded in somatic principles,My approach is grounded in somatic principles and informed by polyvagal theory — the understanding that our nervous system is the foundation for how we experience safety, connection, and resilience. True healing involves the whole body, not just the mind.

Latest developments in neuroscience confirm what many healing traditions have known for centuries: trauma isn’t just something we remember — it’s something we carry. When we go through emotional hardship, trauma, or prolonged stress, and those experiences remain unprocessed, they leave lasting imprints not only on our thoughts, but in our tissues, our posture, and our nervous system. These imprints can keep us stuck in patterns of tension, fear, or hypervigilance, long after the original events have passed.

The fast pace and high demands of modern life — combined with the social pressure to stay “in control” and keep emotions hidden — often lead us to disconnect from our bodies. We override our needs, silence our feelings, and push through pain or exhaustion. But when we don’t consciously release stored trauma, our bodies can stay locked in survival mode — always on guard, always bracing for impact. Over time, this state quietly shapes the way we think, feel, relate to others, and even how our bodies function.

Healing begins when we restore a felt sense of safety and connection. Through breathwork, bodywork, and body-oriented coaching, we can help the body complete unfinished survival responses, close emotional cycles, release old wounds, and rewire patterns that no longer serve us. This process restores trust in the body, softens the armour, and helps us live with more clarity, presence, and emotional freedom. This opens the door to a more grounded, present, and authentic way of living — one where we feel safe in our own skin and free to live fully.

This work is not about fixing you — because you are not broken. It’s about returning to yourself. Remembering who you were before the armour, before the conditioning, before the survival patterns took over. Reclaiming your body as a place of safety, trust, and power — and living from that truth every day.

The Vision

  • People deeply connected to their bodies, where the echoes of trauma and unseen wounds no longer control their lives.

  • Living with authentic presence, fully rooted in their own reality and truth.

  • Free to be their true selves — giving themselves permission to show the world who they are without fear, apology, or disguise.

  • Empowered and courageous, stepping into their power guided by the wisdom of their embodied experience.

  • Creating lives filled with clarity, purpose, and profound self-trust.

  • Meeting life’s challenges with resilience, compassion, and a sense of inner safety that no external circumstance can take away.

My story

This work — breathwork, somatics, the mind-body connection — didn’t just inspire me. It saved me.

For over a decade, I lived at the pace of Brussels politics: fast, high-stakes, relentless. I worked at the heart of EU decision-making, fighting for justice and human rights in a system shaped by power, compromise, and competing interests. I was a high-achiever, chasing success and recognition, pushing through, powering on — always performing, rarely pausing.

To survive in that world, I disconnected from my body. I lived entirely in my head, overriding every signal, every need, every cry for rest. Coffee replaced sleep. Pressure became purpose. My body was just a machine I expected to keep going, no matter the cost.

It took three burnouts and two autoimmune diseases for everything to crash.

I got ill, and for the first time, I couldn’t push through it. I had to stop. I had to listen to my body even if, by then I didn’t know how to. Of course, I could’ve numbed the symptoms with medication and kept going. But I didn’t want to just function. I wanted to feel. To live. To feel safe in my own body.

I chose to heal. I wanted to understand the root of what had brought me to that point.

Breathwork and bodywork played a crucial role in that healing. They allowed me to release the trauma, tension, and scars of past experiences — the ones that had shaped my beliefs, dimmed my light, and taught me to abandon myself in order to belong and feel seen. I began to challenge the narratives I was taught to accept as “normal,” and started to rewire my patterns, build confidence, and create space for the life I actually dreamt of.

Through somatic healing, I began to slow down. To feel again. To remember who I was beneath the armour. I rebuilt trust with my body, healed old wounds, reclaimed my power, and re-learned the natural rhythms of my nervous system. I softened. I came home to myself.

And now, I offer this work to others — not as a fix, but as a path. A return to your body. A return to your truth. A return to you.
